Each package contains 40 ml of brine shrimp eggs, equivalent to around 100 home sized hatches.
Hatching your own live baby brine shrimp is one of the cleanest and most rewarding ways to feed your jellyfish. Unlike dry or preserved foods, brine shrimp will continue swimming around the aquarium until they are eaten by the jellyfish.
Traditionaly, brine shrimp come in an egg-like cyst, which allows them to dry out during drought seasons in nature. Once they hatch though, thousands of these leathery cysts are left behind. Jellies can’t digest these cysts, and so they get stuck in their digestive tract, causing serious health issues. We have completely solved this issue by removing the outer shell layer, leaving just the brine shrimp embryo and a membrane.
We start with ultra premium Brine Shrimp eggs that have a hatch rate of at least 95% (highest availabe). We then utilize a unique process to remove the outer shell, while protecting the shrimp embryo. The result is a very high quality, clean product with very high hatch rates. We utilize these same eggs to feed every jellyfish in our facility.
Let’s look at some perks of Decapsulated Brine Shrimp eggs:
- Higher hatch rate- these brine shrimp don’t have to struggle out of that tough shell. More of them will make it through.
- Faster hatch time- you can expect to see baby brine shrimp hatching out at the 18-24 hour mark. Traditional eggs can take almost 36-48 hours to hatch.
- Potential for higher nutrition- again, these little shrimp aren’t wasting all their energy and yolk reserves on hatching. There’s more nutritious yolk left over for your jellyfish.
